Tiffnay Transcription Disc Labels
The Bob Wills Tiffany Transcriptions were pressed onto two sided, 16 inch, 331/3 RPM, vinyl discs. Each side was consider a “record.” Therefore, record number 2 was on the flip side of record number 1.
There were a total of 26 different discs plus a demo disc for a B. F. Goodrich sponsored show.
Transcription Labels
Maybe I can’t find the info, but do you have a page that lists when the original transcription records were released? For example, when were the discs of Records 1/2 or Records 51/52 released to the radio stations?
We do not know the dates of release to the stations. There might be a way of getting some idea by looking into the history of the stations that subscribed to transcription service. It looks like discs 49/50 and 51/52 were never sent out.
Do you have a list of the radio stations that the records were released to?
Go to this page, https://www.tiffanytranscriptions.com/the-tiffany-music-company/, and look under the Demise section and the popup note “(see list of stations 5)”
I have a complete set of labels and the brochure which I got from Kaleidoscope when they went out of business. Any thoughts on their value or what I could do with them? they’ve been in the closet a long time, PS How can I get an mp3 copy of vol 10? The Tiffanys have always been a favorite in my record collection.
Thanks –
Alan
Lucky for you to have such a treasure. I don’t know what their value is. This type of music is undervalued in the collecting world. However, what you have is very rare. There where hundreds of unused labels, like the set you have but I don’t know what happened to them. The same with the brochures. The only way to find out their value is to put them up on eBay and see what you get. Or donate them to some archive.
I cannot supply copies of any of the music. I do not own the rights. The purpose of this site is to supply information and documentation about the Tiffanys and the Bob Wills band during that era. I will put up some samples, as I’ve started to do, but not complete songs. Sorry.
